Stay away from Heat Styling Equipment!!!

I remember when I had my hair all natural, everytime I took my braids or weave out after washing it I would always use a ceramic hair iron to straighten it so I could tie it up just to see how much its grown. This is the same effect that people with relaxed hair get  after each relaxing treatment that they find the need to tie their hair or rather excited to see how long the hair is after relaxing. It’s a psychological thing that we think our hair is sum how longer after being relaxed.( I caught sum1 saying that the other day). Its not a childhood thing , I heard a grown ass 24 year old say that.

Each time I undid and washed my hair I found the need to blow dry then straighten it myself before I went to the salon for next hairstyle. I did this to make it more manageable for the hairdresser to plait and offcourse less pain when I got there. You know how some hairdressers comb hair, its like they tryna take it out from the scalp.

Anyway, though this hair straightening with a ceramic iron happened every  6 -8 weeks only I never realized the impact that that heat had on my hair. Heat styling products break your hair (relaxed or natural), they make it thinner and weak.  And this maybe the reason why you see no progress in your hair growth. If know it tempting when you have an open weave on and you have natural or texlaxed hair and want your real hair to blend in with the weave. If you are using heat stylers everyday or 4 times a week you are destroying your hair, try reduce it and when you do use them apply sumthing to protect your hair like serum or olive oil otherwise you will burn your hair.

For those with relaxed hair if you using the oils instead of wax based hairfood you will see that you don’t have to straighten your hair if using e.g olive oil or castor oil. As for the natural haired, its tempting I know ,oil your hair and reduce any heat contact  as much as you can, closed weaves are a better option.

When I took the decision to relax my hair Its cz I had been disappointed to see that my hair was now shorter than it was a year before, mostly due to blow drying and hair straightening.

Scalp sores

Scalp sores are usually caused by tight plaiting of braids or weaves, could be eczema or ring worms. After getting a weave a few weeks ago a week later I found myself scratching the back of my head a lot. It was actually unbearably painful I decided to tie my hair up as it was worse wen I just combed it up. I thought maybe I might have been reacting to the actual weave itself but didn’t understand why because I had used this weave before numerous times.

I decided that I would remove the weave before it got worse. Incase it was ringworms , I didn’t know. So I decided to wash my hair in DETTOL (anti bacterical) but the itching continued. So I headed straight to the pharmacy and she recommended I use STAR skin ointment(over the counter product).  I feel the great results  already

Dont you just hate Men with thick long Afros!!!

I just hate bumping into men with big long thick afros or guys with long hair. i just wonder how it takes guys a year or months to get a huge afro but for women its takes years if not decades. yeah even the Natural sisters struggle to get hair that long in a year. i think i need to get a few tips from these men. Eeish im shy though, they will give you tips but you should see that eye you get, he'll be busy talking to you while staring at your shungu pony.

A little more on that shungu pony

I have always been that long hair kinda girl everytime I take out my extensions or weave and see that my hair aint long enough yet to be exposed to the public I immeadiately think of meeting with the hairdresser to see what the next hairstyle is. As long as I don’t see that disappointing hair length im happy. This is not to discrimate short hairstyle, I admire from a distance but I got a small head so I tend to distance myself from short hairstyles. when i feel like tying my hair up even the days when it was long i felt the need to help it with a little bit of hair piece so that it looks a bit healthy.

6 weeks Rule!!!!

I've decided to have every hairstyle I get whether braids or a weave for 6 weeks nothing beyond or less(unless of course the hairdresser did a bad job then its gotta go off) I currently have braids on, that reach the six week mark tomorrow so i intend on taking them off so i give my hair about a week or 2 to breathe before my next hairstyle so im going to just leave it.  my hair is on that tip where its looks like it got so much growth and needs a relaxer but its naturally texlaxed as i explained in my previous article.  Im going to leave it like that since im still on the deciding on going au natural or try relax one more time. I was in deep thought the other day on why my hair could be texlaxed perhaps it could be my cheap self has been self-relaxing or perhaps its just like that as before i went natural it actually used to relax properly. so if i do decide to relaxer i will let a professional hairdresser do it. I chose 6 weeks as its enough weeks to get used to and enjoy the hairstyle and its safe. I cant keep braids beyond that otherwise you hair can break and it starts to look untidy anyway. It happened to me last year when i kept them for 2 months.

Anyways im a black girl, gotta be changing my hairstyle so i dnt get bored and because my african hair can change to anything. I've decided to hve every hairstyle i get whether braids or a weave for 6 weeks .

OMG my hairline receded so BAD!!!!!

After  having had my braids for 6 weeks I decided to take them out after I noticed my hairline receding. I didn’t realize how bad it was until I had combed it out into an afro. My hairline is so bad, im taking a break to let it breathe a little. While sitting in the gautrain last week  I caught myself staring at my hairline , its real bad that my the scarf I was wearing could hardly cover how bad it looks. My hairline is so weak, im still on my castor oil regimen so i will show you the improvement in the next 2 weeks.

Below is what my hairline looked like AFTER I took out the braids

The scarf could not even cover it.

Im so sad right now, a receding hairline is embarassing......
